Introducing new generations to the culture of design means providing tools to understand the world around them. With this goal in mind, for the second year at Istituto Comprensivo Cortona 1, “Solids: Designing with Paper”, an educational program for second-grade students of lower secondary school, focused on exploring paper engineering design through the study of geometric solids.
The project guides students through a hands-on laboratory experience that combines theoretical learning with practical experimentation. During the sessions, students are encouraged to understand how a two-dimensional drawing can be transformed and take shape as an everyday object.
Specifically, the program allowed students to:
In 2024, the educational commitment was strengthened by CM SB’s participation in the national project “Packaging, What a Fantastic Adventure!”, promoted by Fondazione Carta Etica del Packaging. The initiative aims to tell the story and evolution of packaging, both in nature and in society, and to raise awareness among new generations about its correct use and recycling. .
The project involved schools throughout Italy through remote sessions. CM Cartotecnica Moderna SB participated as a company specialized in paper packaging, conducting four one-hour educational interventions, dedicated to discovering the characteristics, functions, and value of paper in the packaging system.
