In 2024, CM Cartotecnica Moderna SB launched a project that focuses on change, opportunity, and the future. An experiential journey aimed at inmates at the Perugia-Capanne prison, born from a combination of social responsibility, corporate culture, and a desire to give back to the community.
Bringing the company into the prison meant sharing skills, visions, and values: those developed by CM SB in the world of packaging, eco-design, and material reuse. But above all, it meant creating a space for listening, learning, and personal discovery.
The project, divided into three training modules, accompanied participants on a journey that began with education on reuse and environmental sustainability, leading to the enhancement of each person’s manual and design skills. At the heart of it all was the metaphor of paper: a fragile yet resistant material, capable of transforming, being reborn, and coming back to life. Just like people.
“Transform to be reborn” is also a female empowerment project. An initiative designed by women for women, inspired by CM SB’s journey towards gender equality and built on the desire to share knowledge with those who are ready to start afresh. An authentic dialogue, based on technical skills but also on trust, care, and vision.
The operational core of the project took shape through workshops on paper design and crafting, during which participants created small items for public contexts, such as school or civic markets. It was a hands-on experience that allowed them to activate their skills, experiment with creative work, and see themselves in a new light, imagining future possibilities.
The Capanne project is a tangible example of how business, training, and social responsibility can intertwine to generate shared value. It is a way to extend beyond the company’s boundaries the principles of sustainability, listening, and attention to people that define the identity of CM Cartotecnica Moderna SB.
